Brings to mind a gospel song of Tom T. Hall. The chorus always bothered me:
…me and Jesus…got our own thing going…
…me and Jesus…got it all worked out…

I suppose it fit the tune easier that way, but it seemed to me the characters were listed in the wrong order! Same problem he discusses in your clip–the “me first” syndrome.
